The most important Alabama players: No. 8, DeVonta Smith

With all the projections about what lies ahead for Alabama’s season, there is one area in which there are no question marks. That’s the offense.

That’s no surprise, given that Alabama has arguably the best offensive line in college football, a running back who ended 2019 playing the best football of his career and two wide receivers who will once again give the Crimson Tide one of the best receiving units in the country. The offense is considered so turn-key that even without Tua Tagovailoa, most college football analysts think the Tide will keep rolling up yards and points.

So far during this project ranking Alabama’s top 10 most important players for the 2020 season, defense has been represented at the No. 10 and No. 9 spots. Now it’s the offense’s turn at No. 8 with a wide receiver who set program marks as a junior.
