Any NFL team that was unhappy with its pass rush got good news Monday night when long-time Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy was released for salary cap reasons, putting the still-productive interior pass rusher on the open market.

Because NFL teams can never have enough pass rushers on the roster, the market for McCoy’s services should be robust. At 31 and coming off a few injury-plagued seasons in a row, it’s fair to wonder if McCoy is still the player he once was, however. The tape suggests he still has the explosive first step that, in combination with his immense power, has given offensive guards trouble over the years.
