John Dewan, left his career at AON Insurance in the 1980’s to become a “Sports Actuary”. At his first company, STATS, Inc., John pioneered sports analytics with the most timely and comprehensive sports database, including the first ever real-time boxscores in all four major sports. In 2000, STATS, Inc. was sold to Rupert Murdoch and Fox News. John subsequently started another company, Sports Info Solutions, where he continues specializing in analytical services to 25 of the 30 teams in Major League Baseball. SIS has recently expanded into football. John Dewan is also the author of four editions of The Fielding Bible which has revolutionized defensive baseball analytics resulting in defensive changes on the field such as “The Shift” and evaluation of players with new information such as Defensive Runs Saved.

Rob brings a wealth of sports content industry experience to BIS, having worked for almost 20 years in the industry. He is currently responsible for the overall strategic vision and financial success of the organization after three years of directing the IT department. He earned his undergraduate degree from DeSales University in politics/pre-law and did his graduate work at Temple University in business administration and journalism and is a certified tax preparer. He resides in East Allen Township with his wife Debbie and enjoys spending his free time up at their lake house fishing and writing.
Since 1975, Bill James has been writing about baseball and compiling reference books about baseball. His progressive baseball analysis has earned him broad respect of the baseball community. He is currently the Senior Baseball Operations Advisor for the Boston Red Sox.
Matt Manocherian joined the company in 2016 as a football consultant and assumed the position of Director of Football Development the following year. He has overseen the expansion of its football operation, which has seen tremendous growth and is at the forefront of football scouting, data, and analytics. In 2018, Manocherian also took on the role of Director of Research before being promoted to Vice President in 2020.
Prior to joining Sports Info Solutions, Manocherian spent six seasons as a scout for the New Orleans Saints and the Cleveland Browns following his graduation from Duke University in 2008. Matt received his Masters in Sports Management from Columbia University and currently serves as an adjunct professor teaching Gridiron Analytics and Basketball Analytics to graduate students at New York University.
Joe contributes to the innovative research and analytics work done at BIS through his role in Research and Development. He has experience working for three MLB clubs, having interned in Baseball Operations for the Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, and New York Mets prior to joining BIS. He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University, where he studied Civil Engineering, and made his transition into the baseball industry after completing the dual degree MBA/M.S. in Sports Management program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Corey oversees business development where he is responsible for maintaining and developing business relationships, creating custom solutions to meet client needs and heading up the Sports Info Solutions Twitter account (@SportsInfo_SIS). He gained prior experience working for Topgolf, FantasyLabs, and MLB Advanced Media. Corey graduated from Marist College with a degree from their Sports Communication program. In his spare time, Corey enjoys Daily Fantasy Sports, electronic music, and Rocket League.
Noah began as a baseball video scout in February of 2016. Since then he has contributed to both our baseball and football operations. He transitioned from operations to full time business development in 2019. His primary responsibilities include overseeing the coordination of SIS’ multiple websites’ updates and initiatives, as well as assisting with the execution of internal sales and marketing strategies.
He has previous working experience with the Tampa Bay Rays in their marketing department, and the Cincinnati Reds in baseball operations. He also assisted with the implementation and coordination of SIS’ inaugural baseball scout school in 2019. Noah graduated from Flagler College with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He’s an avid Nick Foles truther!
Kyle started with SIS as a Business Development Intern in 2019, and became a full-time Associate in 2020. He works with Corey March to foster new business and continue to build relationships with current clients. He has contributed many scouting reports to the SIS Rookie Handbook.
Kyle graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a double major in Business Management and Marketing. He is an avid fantasy football player and a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan!

Patrick Coyle brings his 15 of years of IT experience to the SIS team. A true IT renaissance man with understanding of application development, database design, systems administration, project management, and just about anything else anyone can throw at him. He graduated from Penn State in 2005 with a bachelor’s in data communications. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, canoeing, trap shooting and camping.
Megan McGrail brings 7-years’ experience in I.T. infrastructure, and extensive graduate work in Cybersecurity to her role at SIS. She hopes to complete her Master’s Degree in Information Systems with a focus in Cybersecurity by the end of 2021. She has worked in a variety of roles in I.T. infrastructure since beginning her I.T. career. With a can-do attitude, Megan adores learning new technologies and techniques within her profession.
In her spare time, Megan is very crafty, and loves to build or make anything with her hands. She also loves travelling with her daughter, particularly to remote mountainous areas of the U.S. She counts herself as a coffee connoisseur, and is a huge fan of NCAA college basketball.
Will graduated from Eckerd College in 2014, with a degree in math and minors in computer science and journalism. He was also a sports editor for their award-winning student newspaper, the Current, and covered high school football for the Tampa Bay Times for a season. After completing college, he then attended App Academy, where he improved his programming skills before accepting an IT position with BIS.
Tim joined BIS as a video scout in 2017, but after demonstrating a web crawler he created in his free time he was offered a position in our IT department. He capitalized on this opportunity to learn about the entire IT realm, from programming languages to operating system administration.
Brian recently joined the IT team. He originally joined SIS as a Video Scout in 2016. He then interned in the R&D department before becoming a full-time member in 2017. He graduated from nearby Lehigh University in 2017 with degrees in computer science and statistics.
Zach is a recent 2019 graduate of Messiah college with a bachelor’s degree in Theater and a minor in Philosophy. He then attended The Tech Academy’s online programming courses with the goal of learning and developing skills to jump start his career in the tech industry. He is looking forward to further enhancing his skills at SIS and expanding his knowledge in the IT department.
Ronan joined SIS as a Football Video Scout in 2018. He returned as a Video Scout Associate for the 2019 season before interning in the IT department, where he worked mostly on football-related projects, before being promoted to a full-time position in 2020. He graduated from the University of Miami in 2017 with a major in Sport Administration and a minor in Computer Science.
Mark Simon came to BIS in February 2018 after nearly 16 years as a researcher for ESPN, 9 working on “Baseball Tonight.” Mark also wrote regularly about baseball and other sports for ESPN.com, co-hosted the Baseball Today podcast, wrote/voiced features for ESPN Radio’s baseball coverage. He also co-ran the @ESPNStatsInfo Twitter feed. He is the author of the book The Yankees Index, published in June 2016. Mark is a graduate of The College of New Jersey with a degree in journalism.
Alex contributes to Research and Development efforts across both baseball and football. A Philadelphia area native, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012 and has experience in statistics and software testing. He comes to SIS after interning in the Boston Red Sox Baseball Operations department.
Stephen was born and raised in Wisconsin and played 4 years of college basketball, including winning a National Championship at UW-Stevens Point in 2015. Prior to SIS, Stephen worked for 2.5 years in Advanced Analytics at Sentry Insurance, and was a Data Science Intern for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He will be graduating in April with his M.S. in Analytics from Georgia Tech.
John joined SIS as a Football Video Scout in 2017. He then worked as a Senior Video Scout and R&D Intern at SIS before being promoted to Research Associate where he mainly works on football related projects. He graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a minor in Sports Management.
Sarah joined SIS in December 2020 as a member of the R&D team. She graduated from Ursinus College with a degree in mathematics and is nearly finished with a Master’s degree in statistics at Villanova University. She comes to SIS after working in healthcare data analytics at Cerner. She is looking forward to growing her data modeling skills with baseball and football applications. In her free time, she can most likely be found on the golf course.
Lindsay graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a Master of Science degree in Applied Math and Statistics. At Mines, she was a Graduate Teaching Fellow teaching undergraduate Probability and Statistics. In 2016, she presented her Master’s thesis at the SABR Analytics Conference in Phoenix. Shortly after, she started working in the Research and Development department at SIS. It was her first job out of college and first in the sports industry. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling and watching sports with her husband Tim.
Jon is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the baseball operation: Major League, Minor League, College Baseball, and International. Promoted to this position in 2019, he leads each area of baseball operations, ensuring that the company’s data remains top notch.
Jon joined the company in 2005, with a focus on the Minor Leagues. Prior to leading all aspects of the SIS baseball operation, he served as the Director of Minor League Operations, overseeing data collection of all 90 High A, AA, and AAA locations.
Jake Loos oversees the new Basketball initiative for SIS. Jake brings to SIS his extensive experience in the sports analytics field, including five years as the head of the Basketball Analytics department for the Phoenix Suns. Prior to that, he earned his M.B.A from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, and a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from Northwestern University.
Dan works on the MLB side of the data collection operation at SIS. His responsibilities include the hiring, training and supervision of the BIS video scouts, as well as quality control of data throughout the season.
Before coming to SIS, he worked for the New York Yankees in Tampa, FL. While there, Dan spent time in several departments, including baseball operations, player development and marketing. He also moonlighted as the official scorekeeper for the Yankees’ Single-A affiliate in Tampa.
Dan is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, OH, where he studied Economics and Spanish.
Dan oversees the football operation, including all aspects of data collection and management of the football Video Scouts and Senior Video Scouts within the company. He has been the Football Operations Coordinator since the initiation of the operation and helped lead the company’s expansion into college football. He has done standout work at SIS by creating a multitude of reports and processes to ensure that our data is the industry leader in accuracy. Dan joined the company in 2014 as a Video Scout. He also completed a Research & Development analyst internship with SIS, helping complete The Fielding Bible – Volume IV. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Applied Statistics.
Spencer graduated from Vanderbilt in 2013 and Cardozo Law School in 2017. He has worked at KPMG for the last year and a half. In addition to KPMG, Spencer worked as the Director of Basketball Analytics and Scouting for SAC Family Agency, worked with the Phoenix Suns as a remote Video Analyst, and consulted with various other agencies and basketball trainers.
In addition to his new role with SIS, Derek also serves as Director of Scouting for Babcock Hoops, where he collects intel and information on NBA Draft prospects, while creating and maintaining relationships with agents, trainers, coaches, and NBA executives. He began his career in sports at the University of Texas in Austin as a Server and Retention Consultant in intercollegiate athletics. He then most recently spent 4 years with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Season Ticket Retention Department, where he managed over 350 individual and corporate clients.
Todd brings 18 years of Major League Baseball scouting experience to SIS. He plays a leading role in data quality control for multiple aspects of the baseball and football operations.
Nathan runs our in-house Minor League baseball operation. He is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO where he earned a degree in Sports Management. Prior to SIS, he interned with three professional teams in Illinois, West Virginia, and Ohio before becoming a video scout in 2014.
Josh contributes to multiple areas of the Baseball data collection operations at SIS. His focus is on supervising video scouts across baseball operations, and takes a lead role in data quality control. He started as a video scout in 2014 and contributed scouting reports to The Fielding Bible-Volume IV. He received a Bachelors degree in philosophy and economics and a Masters degree in philosophy from the University of Cincinnati.
Ted oversees the Video Editing Operation. He has contributed to the quality control efforts in the Baseball Operation since he started as a Video Scout in 2015, performing checks on a variety of our MLB and International data points. He graduated from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied and Industrial Mathematics with a minor in Physics. He also has a Bachelor’s of Education from UOIT, which he utilizes when he takes a leading role in training the new Video Scouts each year.
Brooks is an Auburn University graduate who spent his 4 years at Auburn leading the team managers, managing the analytics utilized by the team, and working closely with the video coordinators on their scouting practices. Since Auburn, he has consulted with a couple of teams while maintaining his love of the game by binging the NBA.
Jason oversees the baseball pitch charting operation. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and minored in Economics. He joined BIS as a video scout in 2014 and 2015 before being hired full-time in 2015. Jason is a Lehigh Valley native.
Nathan began as a baseball video scout in March 2016. He has been an Operations Associate since July 2018 and helps take on many of the football tasks in the Operations department, including vital work on the SIS Football Rookie Handbook. He also helps teach Scout School during the football season. Prior to his time at SIS, Nathan worked in some capacity with the UNLV football team, two Arena Football League teams and the Cleveland Browns. He received his degree from Campbellsville University (KY) in Sport Management in 2012 and also got his Masters in Sport Administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 2013.
Mike started as a baseball Video Scout in 2015 and also was a part of our inaugural season of data collection for football. He was promoted to a full time Operations Associate position in 2016 helping both baseball and football operations in quality control and data collection. Mike graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and also has a Masters in Sports Management from Liberty University.
Justin joined the company in 2015 as a baseball Video Scout and was also part of the initial Video Scout group in the Football operation that started during the fall of that year. He was promoted to a full-time position in 2016 and became an Operations Associate in the summer of 2018. He contributes significantly in both the Baseball and Football operations, and his primary responsibilities include training first-year scouts in both operations as well as data collection, quality control and supervising scouts during the season. He also acts as the producer for the Off The Charts Football Podcast. Justin is originally from just outside of St. Louis, MO and graduated with honors from McKendree University in Lebanon, IL with a degree in Writing/English.
John leads the NFL, NCAAF, MLB and MiLB injury operations. His responsibilities include providing the diagnoses of injuries, maintaining the injury database for each league, and supervising the injury data collection operation. Prior to his promotion, John worked with Sports Info Solutions as a senior video scout with hopes of utilizing his medical background to provide in-depth injury analysis. Previously, John worked for Indiana University Hospital as a Rehabilitation Specialist following his graduation from the University of Michigan. He graduated in 2015 with an M.S. in the field of Kinesiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics. John enjoys exercising, staying up to date on current medical journals, and volunteering for the local community through his church.
Evan joined SIS in 2017 as a video scout intern. He became a full time Operations Associate in 2019. He works on both the baseball and football operations. He earned his bachelors degree from SUNY Brockport in history and masters degree from SUNY Cortland in sports management.
Ken supervises the video editing operation. He has been with the company since 2017 where he started as a Video Scout, was a Video Scout Associate in 2018, Senior Video Scout in 2019, and is now an Operations Associate. He was born in Japan and grew up in the Central Valley region of California. He graduated from University of California, Merced with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
John joined SIS as a football video scout in the fall of 2016. He has since become a lead recruiter of incoming video scouts and editor of the SIS Football Rookie Handbook, along with supervising the day-to-day in-season operation. He graduated from Mississippi State University with honors in 2015, where he assisted the Bulldogs’ football recruiting department. Originally from Arlington, Virginia, he also spent time with the Washington Football Team’s operations department through college.
Baxter is a graduate of Mississippi State University, where he also completed his MBA in 2019. During his last couple of years at State he served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the men’s basketball team.
David assists with the Minor League Operation. He started as a Video Scout in 2017, moved up to a Video Scout Associate in 2018, to a Senior Video Scout in 2019, and finally to his current position as an Operations Associate in 2020. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and attended Indiana University.
As the Director of Human Resources, Sue Dewan brings her extensive business background to Sports Info Solutions working in IT and and HR throughout her career. She was the Vice President of Information Technology during the start-up phase of her previous company, STATS Inc. She also does HR work for several other companies as well as SIS.
Carol brings over 15 years Secretarial and Human Resource experience to SIS. She assists the BIS team in managing the day to day office administrative duties, ranging from answering phones and ordering supplies, to assisting with the influx of video scouts hired each baseball season. When not working she enjoys cooking and entertaining friends and family!
