The Athletic’s 2019 college football Freshman All-America team December 12th, 2019, SIS Featured The Athletic unveiled its two All-America teams on Wednesday. Now it’s time to recognize some the best young players in college football with our Freshman All-America teams. These two teams are made up of the true freshmen and redshirt freshmen who made the biggest impact for their programs. They were selected based on nominations from our staff of national and team writers across the country. First Team Offense QB Sam Howell, North Carolina: One of Mack Brown’s first victories in his return to North Carolina was convincing Howell to flip from Florida State, and that move has paid off brilliantly. Howell was the ACC’s leading passer as a true freshman. His 3,347 passing yards set an ACC freshman record, and his 35 passing touchdowns are the most by a true freshman in FBS history.
