Overall rank: 104th

Positional Rank: 4th

Grade: 6.3 (limited starter)

Low Injury Risk

Summary:

Klubnik has the arm talent, athleticism, and composure in the pocket to be an eventual starter at the next level, but he will need to clean up his occasional lapses in mechanics, strengthen his progressions, and reading of defensive rotations to reach his full potential.

Overall

Cade Klubnik is a 3-year starter in Clemson’s spread offense. He started 40 of the 49 games he appeared in for the Tigers, missing 1 game in 2025 due to a sprained right ankle. He also suffered a thumb injury on his throwing hand at the end of the 2025 regular season. He is a natural athlete as shown by his district championships in the 400 meter, 4×100 (anchor), triple Jump, and long jump in high school. His running ability easily translates to the field, but he could still add some bulk and strength to his frame. He is a composed and poised leader that is not afraid to put his body on the line for extra yards or get downfield to help block for his backs when necessary.

Pass Game

Klubnik excels in the pocket with his composure and ability to throttle his throw speed to layer throws across the field. He shows sound footwork in his dropbacks and active footwork in the pocket as he begins to go through his progressions. In PA or RPO scenarios, he doesn’t always commit to the fake and get the ball into the RB, so underneath defenders don’t always bite on the run. In the pocket, Klubnik shows good patience and poise to find an open target before trying to improvise and extend the play with his athleticism. There are times that he stares down his first read, allowing for some defenders to close down the throwing window on his target.

He keeps his footwork active allowing him to react to pressure by stepping up, spinning out and rolling away from the pressure, or taking off for himself. He shows good awareness, but he can get caught for a sack with cleverly timed blitzes, especially corner blitzes, where he doesn’t anticipate that pressure and struggles to escape. Once Klubnik decides to throw, he displays quick, sound mechanics to get the ball out. He does not waste any movement in his throwing motion and effectively drives through his back foot. He shows good accuracy in his short and intermediate throws and can fit the ball in-stride or in contested windows. He can also throttle his throw speed down to layer the ball through the layers of a defense, but there are times he lacks urgency and allows the ball to get tipped or batted at the line.

On deep throws, he shows good arm strength to push the ball deep and allow his receivers to run underneath it. But he has a tendency to have his footwork fade away from these throws, open up his hips and chest early rather than driving through, and have the ball sail and overthrow the target. When on the move, Klubnik continuously keeps his eyes downfield looking for an open target and can vary his arm slot to deliver an accurate throw to his receivers. He has shown good decision making in clutch situations to capitalize on 3rd downs to extend drives by trusting his receivers and fitting the ball into tight windows to extend drives or to score.

Run Game

Klubnik is a natural runner and has proven himself as a threat on designed runs. He has good acceleration and speed, and still has the body control to force missed tackles. He shows good FBI in the read option game to keep the ball himself and get positive yardage when the opportunity presents itself. While he does not rely on his legs at the first sign of pressure in the pocket, he has shown the ability to avoid pressure, move outside the pocket, and then scramble to make a positive play. In big situations where he decides to use his legs, he is not afraid to put his body on the line and fight through contact. However, he has gotten caught a few times with big hits and has failed to secure the ball and fumbled. He has shown over the course of his career that he is willing to slide or run out of bounds to take the yardage and not take unnecessary hits.

Last Word

Klubnik projects as a circumstantial starter who has the arm talent, athleticism, and pocket awareness that can develop into a “win with” quarterback down the line. His talents would fit best in a system that utilizes the run game and allows him to use play action to open up spaces in the defense for him to exploit. His running ability adds another dimension to the run game, where he can be used in read options and QB draws.
