Note: These rankings are based on unrounded totals which virtually eliminates ties between players or teams.

* Jayden Daniels is No. 1 among quarterbacks despite having played in only two games. His Total Points are boosted by his 12 rushes for 100 yards, which helps offset having only a 57% completion percentage (the Commanders receivers ranked bottom-3 in yards after contact per reception and drop rate in the two games he played). Brock Purdy has a case for being the best quarterback through three weeks, having completed 72% of his passes with 9 touchdowns and only 1 interception, and run 10 times for 93 yards. He’s just behind Daniels in Total Points.

* Kenneth Walker III is already almost two-thirds of the way to the 31 Total Points he had last season. He’s already got a big lead in yards after contact and broken and missed tackles. His 22 of the latter are 7 more than the next-closest player, Jahmyr Gibbs.

* Will Anderson Jr. and Greg Rousseau have healthy leads at defensive end and linebacker, respectively. Anderson finished second at the position in Total Points last season, trailing only Aidan Hutchinson. Rousseau’s 24 points are already within 11 of his total from 2025. Rousseau’s Total Points are helped by his 21 pressures (second-most in the NFL as you’ll see below), which he’s turned into 6 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. He had 7 sacks and 1 forced fumble last season.

* Bryce Young already has 10 deep pass completions (those thrown at least 20 yards downfield). He had 17 in each of his first two seasons in the NFL. The early leaders in deep pass touchdowns are Josh Allen and Joe Burrow with 3 each. Burrow’s 3 have come on 7 pass attempts. Allen’s have come on 14 pass attempts.

* Dallas Turner leads in both pressures and pressures above expectation. Pressures above expectation is meant to compare a player to the total expected from an average player based on alignment and situation. Turner has 24 pressures and 8.8 pressures above expectation. An average player would have been expected to record roughly 15 pressures if placed in the same alignments and situations as Turner.

* Trent McDuffie’s 15.4% completion percentage against represents 2 completions on 13 times targeted and has propelled him to the lead in Total Points among cornerbacks. Remember that McDuffie was an All-Pro in 2023 and that year opponents completed 60% of passes against him, so he’s off to a great start.

Matchups and Mismatches

When we look at matchups by unit and compare the teams playing a particular game, there are intriguing matchups and mismatches each week. The Total Points PDF has this for each game in the NFL in a given week.

You can also find much of this information at our subscripton site, SIS DataHub Pro.

Here are some things we noticed:

(All references to rankings are in the context of Total Points Per Play)

* The Raiders have the No. 1 Pass Rush and No. 7 Run Defense and that will be put to a huge test this weekend because the Chiefs rank top 5 in Passing, Rushing, and Receiving.

* The Rams will bring the No. 1 Pass Coverage group to Philadelphia to face an Eagles team that ranks 17th in Passing and 24th in Receiving through three weeks.

* The Titans, despite an 0-3 record, have the 3rd-ranked Pass Coverage unit through three weeks. They’ll be challenged by a Ravens team that ranks 4th in Passing, 4th in Rushing, and 2nd in Receiving. The Ravens also rank 5th overall in Blocking (combining Pass Blocking and Run Blocking).

* The 49ers-Broncos game has a good battle looming in the trenches. The 49ers are top-ranked in pass blocking. The Broncos have the No. 5 Pass Rush, which they’ll need against an opponent that is No. 2 in Passing and No. 1 in Receiving.

* Perhaps a big day for the quarterbacks in Houston. The Cowboys rank 32nd in Pass Coverage. The Texans aren’t much better, 30th but that could be offset by their ranking 4th in Pass Rush. The Cowboys Pass Offense (ranked 6th) is off to a good start. The Texans, ranked 25th, is not.
